Job Description

University West is in an exciting phase of development where applications for external funding for major international projects are an important part. Part of this development includes the formation of an international University together with eight other universities in Europe – STARS-EU.

To support University West's continued work with international applications, we are now looking for a senior research advisor with a primary focus on EU funding.

As a Senior Research Advisor, your most important task will be to provide operational and strategic support to the University's researchers regarding applications for EU funding, with the aim that more applications lead to successful research projects. The support is thus primarily focused on EU applications, but will also include support for applications to national funders and mobility projects.

In the position as a research advisor, you will, among other things:

•    Monitor news and calls, primarily from the EU and other international research funders, to keep researchers updated on current calls.

•    Work with advanced advice in connection with research applications, mainly with a focus on the EU as a research funder and in particular the EU's framework programme – but also on national research funders.

•    Assist researchers in the planning and implementation of research applications, e.g. by providing support regarding the design of project plans, dimensioning of budgets and support to lead consortia for EU projects.

•    Initiate and conduct internal training, seminars and workshops in order to increase the quality of applications and thus the number of grants awarded.

•    Advise the University's management on issues related to international research funding and contribute to the development of strategies for increased external research funding from EU programmes.

•    To participate in joint development work in teams with other advisors and specialists at the Grants Office, i.e. to develop processes, working methods, and internal communication channels.

The support for EU applications within the framework of the position has a primary focus on research in technology and engineering sciences.

The work requires close collaboration with other support functions both within University West, but also with other organizations/financiers within and outside the higher education sector.

Requirements

•    We are looking for someone with a PhD degree in science or engineering, and who has experience in writing, evaluating, leading and coordinating research and innovation projects in an international context. You have good knowledge of international research funding. It is advantageous to have an international network among researchers and industry.

•    You have experience in advisory tasks with a high level of service. As a research advisor, you enjoy working closely with the business and changing perspectives between the strategic and operational. You are communicative and find it easy to teach and inform about your area of knowledge in an interesting way. You have a very good ability to express yourself in English in both speech and writing.

•    Doctoral degree in natural or engineering fields.

•    Experience of applying for and participating in EU funded EU projects.

•    Previous experience of working as a research advisor with expertise in EU applications.

Since the work sometimes involves short deadlines, you have a very good ability to prioritize. As a research advisor, you will work independently as well as in a team. You therefore have good collaborative skills while working independently and being driven. The work requires a high degree of flexibility, the ability to collaborate and a good ability to adapt to changing conditions and routines.
