Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is University West’s overarching profile and basic principle applied to learning, the exchange of ideas, and educational development. The government has assigned the distinguished task of developing WIL to University West. Work integrated learning in education and research develops new, relevant and advanced knowledge both within the academy and among its partners, which also benefits society in general. University West offers a wide variety of study programs, has a good number of applicants and the students show a high entry rate on the labor market. The main research environments at University West are Production technology, Learning in and for the new working life and Child and youth studies and is conducted in collaboration with the surrounding society. Campus is centrally located in Trollhättan with about 13,000 students and 700 employees.

Associate senior lecturer in industrial work-integrated learning with a focus on leading and learning in a digitalized manufacturing industry

Subject area:
Industrial work-integrated learning (I-WIL) is a new, prioritized area, part of the KK-environment PRIMUS https:// www.hv.se/forskning/kk-miljon-primus/. I-WIL will transfer and further develop the WIL research and education, with a particular focus on co-production with the dynamic industrial sector. I-WIL is an interdisciplinary subject linked to reference disciplines such as organizational science, business administration, industrial engineering and management, production systems, pedagogy, sociology, media and communication science and cognitive science.

In I-WIL we pay attention to research and education related to knowledge about methods, models and support techniques for the “new” workplaces that are being transformed, for instance under the wave of industry 4.0. Knowledge of how we as individuals and organizations can learn, collaborate and make decisions in such situations becomes invaluable to efficiently perform in organizations of Industry 4.0 and Production 2030.

This position will be a fundamental part of building I-WIL’s research area (I-WIL). The core of the I-WIL group now consists of 3 professors, 5 associate professors, 8 doctors and 4 phd students. The group has about 7 running projects and has about 25 million SEK turnover in budget in 2020.

The associate senior lecturer's scientific work:
This position will focus on leading and learning in the context of industrial manufacturing and technology development. The digital workplace is current for the employees on the industrial shop floor, where connected devices as well as visual and digital representations of production will change the conditions of work on both operational as well as strategic level. Hence, the scientific work aims at developing knowledge about methods, models and support techniques implemented and used in organizing and manging an increasingly digitized manufacturing industry, where workers and managers both, are involved in developing new, digitality embedded, work practices. Particular focus will be on the new challenges in manging and coordinating work, as well as processes and activities designed to ensure continues organizational learning and competence development in the face of the digital transformation within the industry sector. A particular interest on theories and perspectives related to socio-technical studies and sustainability is welcomed, as both human and technical abilities will form essential elements of the research and educational practice.

The task will consist of research as well as education and teaching at bachelor and advanced level. An important ambition is to engage in an open and relationship-building environment in PRIMUS education and research groups as well as further engaging in industrial partnerships, apply for relevant research projects as well as manage student projects.

Prerequisite:
The applicant must have a background and a PhD degree in information systems or other subject relevant to informatics with a focus on work-integrated learning, such as any of the reference disciplines mentioned above (see subject area). Qualifications from organizational science, business administration, information technology and management, work organization, or human resource management are of particular interest.

The position is mainly for applicants who have a PhD or achieved equivalent scientific expertise not more than five years before the application deadline. Good collaborative ability is a requirement for the employment. Ability to teach in English is a requirement and the ability to teach in Swedish is meritorious.

Merits:
Experience of planning, initiation, management and development of research applications and projects. Merit for the job is also international contact areas and academic networks.

Particular emphasis is also placed on documented skills to disseminate and apply research and development results in close collaboration with companies and organizations and/or communication and collaboration in cross-functional and/or diverse organizations/environments.

Ranking criteria:
Special importance will be given to scientific skills in the subject field. In addition, the degree of administrative proficiency will be assessed, as well as the ability to take responsibility for and undertake teaching in all levels as well as in postgraduate studies with regard to the subject. Furthermore, the degree of skill in developing and leading activities at the university will be considered, as well as the ability to collaborate with colleagues and the surrounding community and to inform about research and development work. When assessing skills, abilities consideration is given to the subject area of the employment, subject description and tasks described above.

Terms of employment: 
The employment is fulltime and limited for four (4) years, with a possibility for having a position as a senior lecturer thereafter.

An associate senior lecturer who is employed under HF 12 a § at a university, can apply for promotion to senior lecturer at the university, if he or she is qualified for appointment as a senior lecturer and is deemed suitable for such a position during assessment, according to the criteria the university has decided to apply in a matter of promotion to the senior lecturer. Such promotion involves a permanent employment as a senior lecturer.
