Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is University West’s overarching profile and basic principle applied to learning, the exchange of ideas, and educational development. The government has assigned the distinguished task of developing WIL to University West. Work integrated learning in education and research develops new, relevant and advanced knowledge both within the academy and among its partners, which also benefits society in general. University West offers a wide variety of study programs, has a good number of applicants and the students show a high entry rate on the labor market. The main research environments at University West are Production technology, Learning in and for the new working life and Child and youth studies and is conducted in collaboration with the surrounding society. Campus is centrally located in Trollhättan with about 13,000 students and 700 employees.

University West is looking for a student employee as a research project assistant

Type of Employment

The Student Employee Agreement is a specific form of employment that enables you, as a student, to work a limited number of hours (maximum 25% of full‑time) alongside your studies, with tasks that have a clear connection to your academic program.

The aim is for you, as a student, to enhance the quality of your studies and gain increased insight into the conditions and mission of public administration.

A student employee position is a fixed‑term assignment that may run for a maximum of four semesters. If you would like to read more about the Student Employee Agreement, you can do so here.

The employment is renewed each semester, and salary is based on an agreed salary scale.

Duties

Your duties include (but are not limited to) the following:

  • Assist in administration and communication of a research project that promotes and conducts vertically integrated project with work-integrated learning component.

The tasks also include planning, coordinating and communicating activities related to research projects and research leaders. The tasks also include course coordination such as recruitment, documentation and follow up of students in courses such as research orientation and research practice.

Eligibility Requirements for Student Employees

To qualify for a position as a student employee according to the agreement, you must meet the following requirements:

  • Be enrolled in full‑time studies at the university level.
  • Have completed at least 60 ECTS credits with passing results.
  • You must not have started doctoral studies.

In addition, the following requirements apply for this position:

  • You should be a full-time student at University West and at least be in your second or third-year study program.
  • You should be well-oriented and experienced in the concepts of vertically integrated programs and work-integrated learning.
  • You should have experience from administrative and communicative work.
  • Excellent communication skills in English, both written and orally.

Meritorious:

  • It is meritorious if you have been part of VIP4WIL courses in research orientation and research practice at UW.
  • It is meritorious if you have some experience from research activities and research practice.

Other Information

The selection process may include trial lectures, work samples, interviews, and reference checks.
