We are now recruiting a Senior Lecturer in Logistics for the Division of Industrial Engineering within the Department of Engineering Science. The division is responsible for two educational programs: the international master’s program in Operations and Supply Chain Management and the Bachelor of Science in Industrial Engineering. An additional international program is currently being planned. These programs are in an expansive phase with high application rates and strong demand from both students and the labor market. The subject area of Industrial Engineering is currently under development in terms of research at the university. A special focus is placed on logistics/supply chain management and operations management. This research development is characterized by interdisciplinary approaches and active collaboration with other academic fields, as well as external partners and universities.

The position is expected to contribute to the further development of research, education, and collaboration within the subject area. We are looking for a candidate with a research profile in supply chain management who wants to help shape and develop the field in collaboration with Swedish companies and organizations.

About the position:

Operations management and logistics is one of the thematic areas in University West’s initiative to establish a comprehensive academic environment within production technology. This includes integration of education, research, doctoral education, and collaboration with industry and society. As a senior lecturer, you will play a key role in developing the area, with a particular focus on supply chain management and sustainability in its economic, ecological, and social dimensions. You are expected to actively contribute to both teaching and research, as well as to further develop collaboration with external actors. You will be part of the research group in Operations Management and Logistics and the teaching team in Industrial Engineering.

Main responsibilities:

As a senior lecturer in logistics, you will play a central role in the development of both research and education at University West. Your main responsibilities will include:

  • Actively contributing to the development of the research group in Operations Management and Logistics, with particular responsibility for applied research in collaboration with
    industry. Establishing and maintaining business networks is an important part of the role.

  • Promoting synergies between business networks and the Co-op concept, where students combine academic studies with paid work placements in companies. Several programs within the Department of Engineering Science are based on this collaborative format.

  • Initiating, planning, and conducting co-produced research with strategic industry partners.

  • Actively working on writing research proposals and securing external research funding.

  • Participating in the development, teaching, and quality assurance of the department’s educational programs, with a special focus on the Master in Operations and Supply Chain Management.

  • Contributing to and delivering professional development activities aimed at practitioners in the field.

  • Participating in the university’s strategic change and development work, especially concerning collaboration with the surrounding society and industry.

Eligibility Requirements for Appointment as Senior Lecturer:

Eligibility requirements for employment as a senior lecturer:

- Demonstrated teaching proficiency (Chap. 4, Art. 4, HF). Applicants who
lack teaching qualifications from an academic environment should have
competence that equates to the university’s eligibility requirements, although
this could have been gained by means other than in an academic
environment.

- Completion of higher education teacher training of at least ten weeks, or
equivalent competence. If the applicant has not completed higher education
teacher training, the appointment may be made, provided the individual
completes such training during the first two years of the appointment.

- Must hold a doctoral degree in logistics or another relevant subject area
as deemed appropriate by the employer in relation to the focus of the position,
or have the equivalent academic expertise or some other form of professional skill that
is relevant to the subject content of the post and the duties related to the position
(Chap. 4, Art. 4, HF).

Additional requirements for the position:

  • Documented knowledge in supply chain management
  • Good knowledge of English, both spoken and written
  • Documented ability to collaborate effectively

The following skills will be considered meritorious:

  • Documented knowledge in sustainability (economic, ecological, and social dimensions)
  • Documented knowledge in computer and systems science
  • Documented experience in program and/or course development
  • Experience in teaching using digital tools
  • Documented experience as a project manager for collaborative projects
  • Documented experience in delivering professional development initiatives for practitioners

The position is permanent full-time employment within the framework of the KK Foundation's recruitment program.
