Work Integrated Learning (WIL) is University West’s overarching profile and basic principle applied to learning, the exchange of ideas, and educational development. The government has assigned the distinguished task of developing WIL to University West. Work integrated learning in education and research develops new, relevant and advanced knowledge both within the academy and among its partners, which also benefits society in general. The Division of Electrical Engineering at University West is seeking a highly motivated postdoctoral researcher in chemical engineering with expertise in automated systems and process understanding. This is a unique opportunity to work at the forefront of sustainability, technology, and innovation in collaboration with academia and industry leaders. The research will be conducted in collaboration with other researchers and industry partners who primarily contribute to the project through expertise in electric drivetrains, recycling, automation, and process development. The research focuses on advancing automated system and process understanding to develop a revolutionary scrap sorting system. The ultimate goal is to enable scrap utilization far beyond current best practices, ensuring that sorted scrap can be used without generating greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions in subsequent utilization steps.
The postdoctoral researcher will work 50% of the time at University West in Trollhättan and 50% at the Mission 0 House in Gothenburg. This collaborative role is part of the Mission 0 House, a dynamic research arena bringing together five universities and leading industry partners to create disruptive, zero-emission solutions. Mission 0 House is situated in the heart of Sweden's unique innovation cluster and aims to be a world leader in zero-emission research and technology.
To be eligible for employment under this agreement, a doctoral degree or a foreign degree deemed to be equivalent to a doctoral degree is required. This eligibility requirement must be fulfilled at the latest at the time of the employment decision. To be eligible for employment under this agreement, candidates should primarily have obtained a doctoral degree not more than three years previously. For the purpose of calculating the three-year framework period, the starting point is the deadline for applications. If there are special reasons, such a doctoral degree may have been received earlier than as referred to in the second paragraph. Special reasons include leave due to illness, parental leave, trade union duties, military service, or other similar circumstances, as well as clinical service or service/assignments relevant to the subject area.
Beyond the provisions of the Employment Protection Act (1982:80), a postdoc may be employed for an indefinite period, but not for less than two or more than three years. The employment may be extended if this is necessary to achieve the purpose of the employment. However, the total
period of employment may not exceed three years.
