University West is looking for a research assistant in wire arc additive manufacturing (WAAM)
Role description:
As research assistant in WAAM you will assist and support the research team. Your daily work will consist of (but not be restricted to):
- Prepare metallography samples
- Measure hardness
- Metallurgical characterization using optical and scanning electron microscopy
- Write reports
Qualifications:
- Current studies at bachelor's or master's level in mechanical/automobile/production engineering. Alternatively have a completed bachelor's or master's degree in mechanical/automobile/production engineering
- Course on Production technology (minimal 6 HP)
- Qualification in metallography analysis (sample preparation, hardness, and OM analysis)
- Ability to communicate in English
The following skills will be meritorious:
- Knowledge of Welding and Additive Manufacturing
- Knowledge of steel welding metallurgy
- Skill in using MS Excel and MS Word
- Prior knowledge or hands on experience on metallography analysis
